In order to tell how ripe the grapes are you have to take a few sample clusters and check there brix, which is the amount of sugar in the grape. When the grapes get to the right brix levels there ready to harvest! Here are some photos of our winemaker, Paul Frankel, checking the brix in our Viognier and Pinot Noir to see how they are developing.

Verasion is the softening of the berries, the accumulation of color to the skins, and the development of sugar in the berries. Here’s a look at a few different grape clusters that are starting to turn purple. The grapes are starting to ripen which means harvest is coming!
