“Having grown up on the outskirts of the beach town Santa Cruz, I was accustomed to a laid back ever changing environment. Not only could I find an abundance of creativity threaded throughout this town, my family also provided an unleashed opportunity to create.

In my early twenties I made my long awaited moveJack-Oliver
to Hollywood to see what the entertainment industry
might offer me. As a result, I was exposed to many
different facets of this exciting industry which
eventually lead me to the unexpected world of movie
art design. I worked for two movie advertising houses
and was able to be a part of creating movie posters for several Oscar winning films. It was during this time that I had discovered my interest in painting. I loved the freedom of creation it provided me.

For the past nine years I have lived in Paso Robles California and have appreciated all it has
to offer. I am once again living a laid back lifestyle, yet I am stimulated by my environment
of seven ever-present children whose exuberant responses to my creations contribute to
my continued enjoyment of painting. I have always lived outside of the box and my pictures
on canvas demonstrate this to be true. I am drawn to imaginary images reflective of goofy characters that are cartoonish in nature. I rarely know where I am going when I start a painting but find satisfaction in knowing when it is complete. Through no intended effort of my own, my creative outlook does not fit within the norm but that has been a comfortable place for me. ” -Jack Oliver
