Steve Kalar

Kalar7 1I was born in Paso Robles, I attended the Lillian Larson Elementary School in San Miguel and graduated from Paso Robles High School, Class of 1970. I am a member of the Academic Hall of Fame of the Paso Robles High School.

My adventure in Italy began in August of 1972. My parents offered me the opportunity to study my third year of university with the California International Programs in Firenze, Italy, where I also atteneded the Academia delle Belle Arti studying fine arts studio painting, fresco, and restoration techniques. I remember the first morning I ventured into the central market of Borgo San Lorenzo… its beauty of space, seasonal color, and daily life have inspired and overwhelmed me for the past thrity-one years.

The past twenty-five years I have been working as an artist/aesthetics designer throughout the United States, mainly in Northern California creating ambiance, special effects, and commissioned art work for a multitude of high-end projects for my various clientele.

I find myself amidst a new renaissance on the Cnetral Coast of California and facing my life’s greatest challenges as an artist/aesthetics designer with a new joy, spirit, and self and a new vision of the place where I was born.

Stephen E. Price

Price1Templeton artist Stephen Price has been a professional artist for thirty-six years. His plein- air paintings, acrylic landscapes, watercolors, airbrush art, trompe l’oeil and fine art murals are in galleries and private collections on many continents. Recently he completed a 6,300 sq
ft Italian vineyard walk-in mural environment on a private estate in California with many trompe l’oeil, or ‘fool-the-eye’ architectural elements.

Price was born in Akron, Ohio and attended the University of Akron and the Akron Art Institute before moving to Laguna Beach, California in 1971. He found work as an airbrush artist, then excelled in the competitive field of photo- retouching.

“I always challenge myself to make things appear as real as I possibly can, whether it’s the patterns of froth on the face of a wave or a tiny section of deteriorated wood. I enjoy going very deeply into the details of the visual surface. When the viewer is compelled to reach out and touch the painting to verify his perceptions, that’s my reward.” – Stephen E. Price

John Jagger

Jagger1

Born in Chicago, John Jagger has been a full time professional sculptor for over 45 years. His monuments grace many cities throughout the U.S. and abroad, and his edition designs number in the hundreds, with edition numbers in the thousands in the hands of his collectors. His awards, prizes and patents are formidable.

With a bachelor’s in Interior Design, and a master’s in Creative Design, he attained Senior Industrial Designer status with IBM in the 50s. His commissions read like the Dow Jones List of Blue Chip stocks. He has worked with churches, casinos, architects, important corporations, banks, newspapers, municipalities, galleries and private collectors.

A ‘driven’ man, he designed and built 4 homes for himself, though he lived in his studio a number of times, where he worked until exhausted, fell onto a cot, rose and continued working, 24/7. He has been a champion in boxing, wrestling, and judo. He played piano in bars and played tennis for money, as he worked his way through college. He has lived on the Ocean in Cambria, CA, and on top of a mountain in Atascadero, CA., for years.

“It was Providence that brought Warren Frankel and I together. With his dream of surrounding himself with fine art, and me wondering what my ‘Swan Song’ would be, our association was perfect, and certainly no coincidence.”
