Bruce Marchese

bm001-2

Under the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, Bruce spent his youth enjoying his favorite pastimes, baseball and drawing. Ebbits Field was his second home. Movie posters were the subjects of his drawings and his passion. When Bruce was 18, he enlisted in the US Marines during the Korean War. He married his love (who is now in heaven). They had 3 beautiful kids. Then after the war, his youthful innocence and passion for drawing were gone.

Older now, with 6 grandkids, and 3 great-grandkids, he started drawing again and evolved to oil painting. He’s been asked why oil painting. His answer was, “At my age, I wanted to start big and besides, it takes a long time for oil to dry, so hopefully I’ll be around for that.” Bruce has entered, and won, 3 awards at juried exhibitions.

Bruce is a primitive painter in a version of the Fauvist — new impressionist way. He loves color and motion. His intention is to leave on the canvas an image that will cause a person to walk away with a smile, feeling good to be alive.
